Lord Jesus- More than a Casual Friend
2007 Calvary Impact's
Week Three Bible Study
In our first two studies in this series, we took the
Let's look at God's Word to find out about our Lord, Jesus.
Please begin with prayer.
Answer the following questions. They will be discussed at the fourth week mission meeting.
God, the Trinity, Our Creator
Please read and then write Genesis 1:26a (about the first fifteen words or so…):
Who does this verse say created man?
What pronoun is used in this verse to describe the creator?
The word God that was used here is the word Elohim in Hebrew. This word actually speaks of three or more. With this information and based on what you know about scripture, who were the three that actually created man?
It is interesting that if you read all the passages of creation prior to this verse, God spoke and things were created. For examples: God said, let there be firmament… (Genesis 1:6), And God said, let the waters…. (Genesis 1.9), And God said, let there be lights… (Genesis 1:14), And God said, let the waters…. (Genesis 1:20). You get the idea! Why do you think that God then had Jesus and the Holy Spirit help Him create man?
Think about yourself. What are the three aspects that make you a human being of that were created by Elohim (the three)?
Since God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit created you, what does this tell you about how well the Lord knows you?
Read and write Psalm 71:5-7.
What was King David's response when He considered God as Creator?
What is your response to being created in the image of God (Elohim)?
Our All Knowing Lord
Read and write 1 John 3:20:
What does this say about God's knowledge of you? What does this mean to you?
Read and write John 16:29-30:
After being with Jesus and listening to Jesus, what was their conclusion regarding Jesus knew about them and life? Where did they say Jesus came from?
If your best friend was "all-knowing", how would that change how you related to them?
Our Eternal Lord
Psalms 90:2 says, "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever before You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. What does this tell us about how long God has been?
Read Micah 5:2. This Old Testament prophecy of the coming of Christ tells us how long Christ has been? What does it tell us about Christ?
Read and write Romans 8:11:
What does this verse say will give you eternal life? What does this tell us about the Holy Spirit?
Our Sinless Lord
Read John 1:14. What does this verse tell us about Jesus as he lived on earth?
Read and write 1 Corinthians 10:13:
What does this tell us about the hard things that we will face on earth and having experienced life in human form, how God will help us?
The Love of the Lord
1 John 4:7-10 says, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
What is the true, driving, and ever present character of God?
How did God show His love to all people?
Are you worth loving to God? Why?
How does God show His love to you?
"
