Scholarship Information

It is the desire of the administration of Calvary Christian School to make a Christian education possible for families who truly want Christ at the center of their child's education. However, with over a $900,000 operating budget in place for the 2010-2011 fiscal year, the administration of the school must balance the needs of families and the need to maintain a high quality Christian education to the students who attend the school.

With this in mind, the following scholarships are available at this time:

Active Duty Military Scholarships Announced

Effective: 1/01/2010 Expires: 6/30/2010

Calvary Christian School is pleased to announce that ten $500 scholarships have been approved for children of active duty military families that are entering Calvary Christian School for the first time in the 2010-2011 CCS School Year.

Single Parent Scholarships Announced

Effective: 1/1/2010  Expires: 6/30/2010

The administration of Calvary Christian School understands the financial hardships faced by a single parent who wants a Christian education for their child. Because of this, the school has approved five scholarships of between $840-1200 for single parents who need help with the before and after school cost of daycare when their student attends CCS. These scholarships are for new families entering the school for the 2010-2011 school year. Single parents who meet the financial criteria and who can provide a reference from their pastor are encouraged to contact the school’s administrator for additional details.

Academic Lion Scholarship Announced

The Academic Lion Scholarship is awarded to students entering 7th-12th grades who have a 3.5 grade point average or higher upon entering Calvary Christian School AND who can provide a letter of reference from their pastor. The amount of the scholarship will be $500 per year from the date of admission and is subject to the student maintaining the 3.5 GPA each school year.

Caring and Sharing Referral Program

(effective 7/6/2009)

Purposes

The purposes of the Caring and Sharing Referral Program are:

Increase school enrollment through encouraging personal involvement of parents and friends of the school. This should include their testimony of personal experiences and what CCS has meant to their family to their friends.

Create a sense of ownership, belonging and responsibility within the school community which includes parents, students, and faculty. This sense should lead to a desire to share in stewardship over the blessing the ministry Calvary Christian School is to the community.

Educate the school community in the financial dynamics of a Christian school.

Redirect advertising funds from traditional methods of recruiting new students (direct mail, advertising, yellow pages, etc) to parents who let others know about the school.

The Need

Calvary Christian School is a ministry. Like all ministries, the ability of Calvary Christian School to meet its mission and vision in a quality manner are tied to the resources that are available to be used these purposes. Tuition and other fees that are paid by parents are the main source of funds and account for 96% of all revenue to the school.

The Lord has allowed Calvary Christian School to maintain facilities for 280 students. In recent years, the school’s enrollment has been between 160-180 students.

Good stewardship and the ability to better address our mission and vision of teacher, training, and growing young Christians requires us to expand our student body.

The Program

All parents who currently have a child enrolled in Calvary Christian School will be able to mention the availability of a $500 referral scholarship to their friends. The new family should be sure to mention the referring parent when asking about the scholarship. When the new family enrolls their child, the new family will be given the scholarship. The parent who refers the new family will also be given a matching $500 scholarship after the new family has paid their first monthly tuition payment.

The Details

The scholarships are limited to one per new family regardless of the number of children.

A currently enrolled parent can refer as many new families as they wish. There is no limit on the number of match scholarships that they can receive.

Both types of scholarships will be spread over the number of remaining ACH payments on their account to reduce the amount of their monthly payments for the remainder of the school year.

Referring parents who have paid their tuition in advance for the current school year will be credited the scholarship amount the next school year.

No checks will be written by the school for any scholarship.

A total of one scholarship of any type (military, low income, Lion Scholar, ministerial) may be used by a new family. The eligible scholarship with the largest amount will be used. However, the referring family will still receive their matching scholarship if the new family qualifies for a different type of scholarship.
