Dear Parents:

Welcome to Calvary Christian School.  It is an honor and a privilege to be teaching your child this year.

My name is Mrs. Cathy Detweiler.  I taught K5 at CCS for 17 years and left for two years.  Last year I returned to CCS to teach 2nd / 3rd grade.  This year I will teach the 1st and 2nd grades.  My degree in elementary and early childhood education is from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania.  I have 29 years teaching experience in both public and private schools.

My husband, George, and I have been married for 38+ years and we have three sons, George (34), Tim (32) and Mike (29).  I have three great daughters-in-law.  First there’s Meredith, who is married to George.  Second is Lesley, who is married to Tim.  Third is Carey, who is married to Mike.  I am also the proud “Grandma” of three amazing grandsons, William (8) and Dylan (5), sons of George and Meredith, and Jackson (almost 1), son of Tim and Lesley.  I will be welcoming a fourth grandson (Mike’s and Carey’s) in October and I am told his name will be Keegan.

I am excited about this year, and I am anxious to work with your children and you.  The most important things you can do for your child are to send them to school well-rested, with completed homework and with a positive attitude to learn.

The ABEKA curriculum, which I enjoy teaching will be used because it provides excellent academic structure and challenges, and helps in strong character development.  In addition, its Bible component will be included every day which will foster your child’s spiritual growth and maturity.

I feel one of the key factors to a successful school year is good communication.  Please feel free to contact me at school with any questions or concerns.  My email is CDetweiler@calvary-christianschool.com.  I am also available for conferences when needed.

I look forward to a wonderful school year.  Please pray that this will be a year of not only academic growth but spiritual growth as well.  And, pray for me for wisdom and patience as I teach your child this year.  Thank you and God Bless You.

Mrs. D.
