High School Bible Course Outline

Week of April 28- May 30, 2014

Mr. John R. Wallace, Jr., Senior Administrator

Students:

We are finishing our multilesson exam on Chapters 19-24. These chapters taught about the Spiritual aspects of leadership. We also covered the role of the Holy Spirit is the life of the believer. We will prepare for this major test, and then move on to the subjects of “prayer”, generational leadership, the cost of leadership, and the test of leadership. I know that application is there for each student who looks at this material and does their best to apply it to their lives.

So what is the most important, intellectual knowledge or the pursuit of an on-going relationship with the Lord that results in a yielded life to God?  This school year, we have learned many things related to math and order, as well the application of these things. This is certainly what is required to graduate from our high school, but the question is: Is this accomplishment “good”.  Many applaud the acquiring of knowledge to the point that it becomes a god and idol. This desire drives their lives. The truth is that knowledge is of itself neither good nor bad. It is neutral. So the question then may be asked, “How come the application of knowledge sometimes results in things that we deem as good?” The answer has been lost by modern, public education which is rooted in secular humanism. The application of neutral knowledge is made good or bad through the process of its use which involves a human being.  The person using the knowledge makes the knowledge “good” or “bad” through how they chose to use it. Therefore, the person- who they are or are not in Christ becomes the key in the process. Much as a potter can make clay into hideous and evil sculptures or a beautiful creation, you and I must be molded by God which then allows us to accomplish His purposes in using what we learn.

This is why I have taken time in this section of the lesson plans to write you about the Lord. I know that knowledge without the mind of Christ in the user will not result in what God is seeking.  The job of a Christian school educator is to keep this in front of a student so that this perspective is not lost. It is truly tragic when a person believes that they can bring value to this world without being sold out totally to Jesus. I pray that this class has been an incubator for this world view.

It has been an honor to teach you! Go in peace! You are loved!

Blessings,

Mr. Wallace

Bible Verse for May 9: Ephesians 6:10-12 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Bible Verse for May 16: Ephesians 6:13-15 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace

Bible Verse for May 23: Ephesians 6:16-17 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Bible Verse for May 30: Ephesians 6:18 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Bible Verse- Luke 4:18-19

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
